The President of Sudan, Omar al-Bashir has found a new friend, President Tomislav Nikolić of Serbia.

President Tomislav awarded him with the Medal of the Republic of Serbia for accomplishments in developing and strengthening peaceful cooperation and friendly ties between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Sudan as the country celebrated the Serbian Day of Statehood.

The Republic of Serbia is a signatory of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court. However, Bashir was not present to receive the award.
