A significant component of JFJ’s work involves the design and delivery of programmes that support investigative journalism, advance accountability, and uphold justice for victims of atrocity crimes.
OVERVIEW
JFJ is seeking an experienced and motivated Programme Associate for a full-time position in Nairobi.
We are looking for a strong candidate who will provide the day-to-day support to the Programme team, assisting with the coordination, implementation, and monitoring of JFJ’s programmatic work.
Working under the supervision of the Programme Director, the successful candidate will support planning and logistics, help track deliverables and deadlines, and contribute to reporting and documentation across JFJ’s projects.
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL BE REQUIRED TO:
- Support the planning, coordination, and implementation of JFJ’s programmes, ensuring activities are delivered on time and in line with work plans.
- Assist in the preparation of annual work plans, operational calendars, and budgets in collaboration with the Programme Director.
- Track programme deliverables, deadlines, and follow-up actions, flagging risks or delays to the Programme Director.
- Support the organisation of programme activities and events, including logistics, travel arrangements, and field-level coordination.
- Maintain accurate programme records, files, and databases, including monitoring and evaluation data.
- Assist in drafting donor narrative and financial reports, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
- Contribute to the documentation of lessons learned, impact stories, and programme evidence.
- Liaise with partners, consultants, and stakeholders as directed, maintaining professional and transparent communication.
- Provide administrative and logistical support to the Programme team as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall mission and objectives of JFJ.
TO APPLY, YOU MUST:
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Project Planning and Management, International Relations, Human Rights, Public Policy, Journalism, or a related field.
- Have at least 7 years of relevant experience in programme or project support, preferably within an NGO, media organisation, or human rights body.
- Possess strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Have a good understanding of, or strong interest in, human rights, accountability journalism, or international criminal justice.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable maintaining organised digital records and databases.
- Have a high level of integrity, sound judgement, and attention to detail.
- Be able to work effectively in a team environment and under tight deadlines.
- Be proficient in English, both written and spoken.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
- Full-time position, five days a week, based in Nairobi, Kenya.
- The position is subject to a probationary period of three months, after which it may be confirmed based on performance.
- Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
